Scholarships are available through Sweet Grass Community Foundation for local and area students. Learn more by clicking on each scholarship below. The application form for each scholarship is located within the individual scholarship descriptions.

John's wishes were to provide an opportunity for students who wanted to further their education. Through this scholarship, his wishes and legacy will help students from Sweet Grass County High School do just that. 

Applicants must be graduates of SGHS and have a C average or higher.  Download the 2026 scholarship application here. 

The scholarship fund was set up in memory of Robert Martinz. Robert had a passion for fixing cars and would have been happy to see students pursuing a career in a trade they were passionate about. 

Each spring, a scholarship committee awards a scholarship(s) to a student(s) from Sweet Grass County or Stillwater County attending a trade school.  Download the 2026 scholarship application here. 

For more than 50 years, Barbara Van Cleve has preserved the landscapes and lives that define the American West through her camera lens. She is now focused on creating a legacy of opportunity for the women who will follow in her footsteps, establishing a scholarship for Montana-born women who are studying photography or cinematography. Students can reapply for this scholarship all four years of school.  Download the 2026 scholarship application here. 

Artist Jessica Zemsky called Big Timber home for almost 50 years. Her warm and colorful works often depict everyday life in this place she loved. This scholarship is available to students from Sweet Grass County High School pursuing the arts (including photography and literature). The scholarship is available all four years of college. Sweet Grass Animal Coalition’s mission is to reduce the number of unwanted animals entering shelters by educating the community, offering trap/neuter/release programs and holding low-cost spay/neuter/vaccination clinics. They award two $1,000 scholarships—one to a graduating senior at SGHS and another to an SGHS graduate who is currently enrolled in college. 

Funds will be sent directly to the school you are/will be attending.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • SGHS senior or SGHS graduate currently enrolled in college
  • Pursuing a degree related to biological sciences or veterinary medicine
  • Involvement in community service/volunteer activities outside of school-affiliated activities
