Our Picnic in the Park Summer Lunch Program collaborated with Big Timber Women's Club, Lammy's Learners, and the Big Timber Congregational Church. From the first day, we had twice the number of children we expected. This number continued to grow throughout the summer and, in the end, we served 2,853 lunches to the children in our community!
The Major Community Project Granting Program was established for efforts that will have a significant and positive impact in our community.
After an application has been reviewed and qualifies, the applicant will be asked to present project details to the full Sweet Grass Community Foundation board.
Organizations must be a 501(c)3, 501(c)6, or a tax-exempt organization to qualify.
If your organization has an upcoming project that may qualify, give us a call!

Micro Grants address unexpected, urgent, or one-time expenses that arise and affect a local organization's ability to fulfill its mission.
Requests for recurring expenses, travel expenses, general operating expenses, routine maintenance, or for projects that have been previously funded by Sweet Grass Community Foundation are discouraged. Micro grants will not fund retroactively and do not fund payroll expenses.

This funding took a bare building and filled it with opportunities for our students, turning it into a space where they can explore, learn, and thrive. With the construction of a new multipurpose area and the funding for PE equipment, students can now engage in year-round physical activities in a safe, supportive environment.
Sweet Grass County Partners in Education provides funding for projects, equipment, physical improvements and educational opportunities not otherwise available through the annual legislated education budget. This enables local educators to think and dream beyond the limits set by the tax-based budget, and to implement teaching innovations that excite and engage students, staff, and the community. This financial assistance will give students opportunities for unique educational experiences not readily available in Sweet Grass County.
Staff and students may submit applications to the fund’s advisory committee at any time for projects, equipment, scholarships or physical improvements that they feel will enhance learning. Click here for the SGC PIE Grant Application. The funded projects will be implemented upon approval.
Tax-deductible contributions for the fund are accepted from anyone who is interested in enhancing the quality of education in Sweet Grass County. For more information contact the foundation office at 932-3090 or info@sweetgrasscf.org.
Emergency medical services in the state of Montana are not considered essential services. So grant funding really helps Sweet Grass County Ambulance get specialized, top-level equipment that we wouldn't otherwise be able to fund ourselves—equipment that makes a direct positive impact in patient care.
