what we do

Raw Deal Run Community Fundraiser

It is an efficient and effective way for local organizations to raise money for their missions, for donors to maximize their contributions, and to celebrate a collaborative and community-wide effort toward philanthropic giving.

The Campaign

The Raw Deal Run fundraising period opens in late August and runs through the day of the fun run held on the first Saturday in October.  Qualified local nonprofit organizations launch their fundraising efforts, and donors are invited to make gifts of all sizes to their favorite causes.  All donations come through Sweet Grass Community Foundation, allowing donors to use one form and write one check to support as many of the organizations as they wish.  After the campaign, organizations receive the money that was contributed on their behalf plus matching money from our Match Fund.  The matching money motivates donors to give, as it ensures that the value of their individual donations will increase.

The Match Fund

Sweet Grass Community Foundation solicits contributions to the match fund from individuals who inspire us all to give.  This fund matches the donations made through the campaign, increasing the size of the gifts that are received!

The Event

The 2017 Raw Deal Run was held on Saturday, October 7th.  The festivities included a 3 mile walk/run, 6 mile run, Halloween costume contest and chili feed. The fun run course takes participants through two private ranches south of Big Timber that allow unprecedented access for this event.

"I have run in the Raw Deal Run for the last several years and it is one of my all-time favorite races, ever! I have been racing for 30 years and you guys put on a really good race. The costumes are fun, the scenery is to die for, and so is the chili. I love your race and plan to attend as many years as possible! You raise money for a helpful and worthwhile organization and I’m glad I can donate to that."
